    Nathaniel Bacon, some slaves, and tabacco planters raid near by Native American settlements and march onto the colonial capital of Jamestown and take over. Before the British soldiers arrive Bacon dies and the movement fizzles out and Governor Berkley is reestablished.

    In Chesepeake/Maryland was a plantation based economy but since people were dying faster than people were being born they needed to figure out a way to get people to come over and work. They came up with what was called Head Right-if you could pay your way over to one of the colonies, you would receive 50 acres of land free. If you brought a family with you they would also receive 50 acres of land free.

    After Bacon's rebellion Virgina did not want that to happen again they replaced indentured slaves with slaves and they become the permanent lower class. Slaves coming into Virgina increases dramatically after this.
