Heritage
I agree with Gladwell's claim that you can't control your behavior because it's from generations and generations ago. My grandfather was a self built man who came over from Supino Italy in 1946 with just the clothes on his back. All of his skills and hard work eventually evolved into the creation of a resturant the tin fish. His hard work ethic carried over into my family as well because now as a teenager i will push myself to be the best i can be. -
The Birth of Jack
I was born in Grosse Pointe Michigan on a spring day in april 1996 with a twin who looks exactly like me.My birthday gave me no initial advantages in school, my mom even considered holding me back in first grade because my abilities weren't at par to my grade. But throughout high school i have maintained mostly all A's and have pushed my self to perfection. Gladwells claim early rip and early rot didn't apply to me because my twin brother and i always pushed eachother to do better than the other -
Time Period and Where you grow up.
Gladwell states that the time period you are born into gives you an advantage or disadvantage in some way, shape, or form. I agree with this statement because the time period i was born into gives me an advantage in the technological field because i am from a wealthy neighborhood and have the opportunities to become familiar with the newest technologies. This gives me an initial advantage and in the end will result in me having a higher chance of being successful in life. -
Socioeconomic status
I had the luxury of attending a pre-school that not everyone gets to do. Due to my parents socioecomic status of being in the middle class and getting divorced at a young age didn't give me any advantages in school, it has put more stress on me with them always arguing. But this gave me an incentive to do well in school and goes against, gladwells statement that only the upper class will reach the highest goals in school. I have reached these by achieving a 4.0 and being in the middle class. -
10,000 Hour Rule
Gladwell claims that throughout your life you have to practice something 10,000 hours to master that task. I agree with this statement because since i was a child i have been playing football since 4th grade and everyday we practice making ourselves better. But i probably only have 3000 hours in which every hour has made me better as an athlete and person but if i ever wanted to be a professional i would need 7000 more hours of practice.
