The Life and Times of Iyliana

  • First word

My first word was "Ma" according to my mom. This goes along with Piaget's preoperational stage. The significance of this is that it helped me to go on and say more words as time went on.
  • Learned to walk

I believe I learned to walk around the age of one. This event is significant because it supports Piaget's theory of a sensorimotor stage.
  • First time reading

I started reading independently when I was five before school started. I'm not sure how but I vividly remember it and my mom does as well. Because of my age at the time and since this has to do with comprehension, I believe it can be classified as Piaget's preoperational stage as well.
  • Graduation

Finishing high school and getting my diploma will be a great milestone in my life. It will enable me to continue working towards my end goal of success and help me figure out "who I am." This goes with Erickson's fifth stage.
  • Graduating college

Graduating from Indiana State University with a degree in psychology will allow me to begin my career as a social worker. This, as well, falls under Erickson's sixth stage but moreso because of my age and now what's actually taking place.
  • Marriage

If this happens, it'll coincide with Erickson's sixth stage. It'll provide me with the love and stability that people often look for in those years.
