    -I worked on this from Spring- Fall, 2009.
    -I walked away grateful for the opportunity to learn from the experienced ESL teachers within the district.

    -I learned so many new strategies to use in my own classroom.
    -When this document was released in the Fall of 2009, it was my first opportunity to share knowledge with and provide support to my co-workers.

    ESL Graduate Academy
    -This opportunity increased my understanding and skills in serving our ELLs here in the Springdale Public Schools.
    -I realized through this experience just how important it is to provide a high-quality educational experience to all of my students without lowering my standards.
    -I also became aware of just how important teacher expectations are when teaching ELLs. ELLs need to be held accountable for the same level of performance as native English speakers.

    -After the ESL Academy, I felt much more confident about using the instructional strategies.
    -I put more focus on vocabulary in my lessons (general and academic).
    -I began utilizing a wider scope of strategies.
    -I was the Islander Club Sponsor.
    -I began eMints training.

    -I began teaching Read 180.

    -I really saw my students acquire literacy skills that allowed them to read and understand more complex texts.
    -The small group set up allowed me to change up the groups frequently and differentiate my instruction as needed.

    -I finished eMints and became an eMints certified teacher.
  • I became a Promethean Trainer

    I became a Promethean Trainer
    -I enjoyed my experience working with other teachers so much during eMints that I decided to become a certified Promethean Trainer in the district.
    -This opportunity has allowed me to lead professional development sessions over ActivInspire and the Promethean Board in my own school.
    -This summer, I will be leading trainings for other teachers in the district as well.

    -This year, I was one of the teachers on our school's LPAC team.
    -I have really focused on differentiated instruction. As a result, I have seen huge improvements in student lexile scores.
    -My 4 years at GJHS has allowed me to develop a good understanding of our student community.
    -I see how the role of technology is changing education.
    -My training will help me teach other teachers how to incorporate technology into their lessons.
