My name is Asubel allenhiemer. I have lived here for 24 years of my life and I have been dreaming to go to America my whole life. The main reason I wnted to move to America is that my parents died when I was 7 and I was brought up in an orphanage. I have been living in an apartment with 2 other families. I will be bording the next ship to America along with my 3 friends that i've known all my life. I hope to have a better life here and I hope this is a good decision. -
The trip to Ellis Island
Ellis islandI have just boarded a ship to Ellis Island. This is the best day of my life. Although I thought that the ships would be nicer. It is dark, hot, and space consuming. All the same once I get there it will be so much better. I have studied as much as I could about America and I am confident that I can pass the test. It took a long 3 weeks to get to Ellis island. Once I stepped out I could see that it was worth the long ride. I can see the Statue of Liberty. It was beautiful. -
Passing the test, ellis island
I have just entered the building where I take my test. I was asked several questions and I knew almost all of them. After the test I was told " Congratulations, you are now a U.S citizen." When I heard those words my heart skipped a beat. I'm a U.S citizen, my dream has come true. Now I must go and look for a house and a job. I quickly learned that immigrants can get jobs building skyscrapers. -
The life threatining job, New york, New york
Good news! I have found a job building skyscrapers. Yes, it is a very dangerous job but it is the only one I can find. The cities are not nice here. There is a whole bunch of crime here. I actually got mugged but I didn't have any money so I didn't lose much. Today was my first day on the job. I was happy to know that I would be helping building it from the bottom. But sooner or later I will have to go up there, it's only a matter of time. It is better here but not by much at least I have a job -

changed AmericaHere it is. I have been told to work at the top of the skyscraper. I was working up there and I can't count how many times I almost fell off. I am glad the days almost over. But I still have to work up there tomorrow. There is still some good news . An irish immigrant and his name wasAndrew Carrinigan . He found a new way to make steel. This helps with my job alot. -

I am a retired man now and have just learned about the world changing invention. Word has it that a man named Thomas edison invented a light bulb. It is a little bulb that provides light. I am going to the showing of the light bulb next week. I have just arrived on a path that is lined with light bulbs. I couldn't believe my eyes. They were beautiful. This is what I'm going to buy for my family. This is life changing.
