    August 27th- September 12th, 1900. The winds of the hurricane were estimated at 145 miles per hour. Over 6,000 galvestonians died in the storm.

    On January 10 1901, a spindletop well struck oil.This well brought in more than 100,000 barrels of oil each day. the well was at a depth of 1,139 when it struck oil, the lucas guyser blew 150 feet up in the air.

    Henery B Gonzalez was elected to US congress in 1961. He was a democrat.
  • John F. Kennedy's Assasination

    On November 22nd, 1963 John F. Kennedy was assasinated in Dallas, Texas. He was shot in his upper back by Harvey Oswald, He was rushed to the hospital, but he didnt make it and died at 1:00pm.

  • Barbra Jordan Elected to US congress

    Barbra Jordan was the first african american woman to serve in the U.S. Congress from the southern area. She was a state senator and as a U.S. Congressman. She is famous for the quote, "My faith in the Constitution is whole, it is complete, it is total."
