    Emile is Published
This book is by Jean-Jacques Rosseau and it talks about how children should grow up. Supersummary.com had this about disabled children, " ...Infants and toddlers are already learning and shouldn’t be swaddled, cooped up indoors, or overly protected but instead allowed to explore the world" (Supersummery.com). This showed that disabilities happen from expansive parenting and that parents need to set their kids free. This shaped the landscape because it talked about what was possible in education.

Several Schools for the Deaf, Blind and Dumb start popping up

The first school was in Hartford, CT by Rev. Thomas Galladut and Samuel Howe. It was described as the "American Asylum for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb" (neiuelcentro.tripod.com). This was 1817. Several years later more schools would open like in 1829 with the opening of the 1st blind school or in 1848 with the opening of the idiotic school. I choose this event for the landscape because it showed what was really possible and these different schools can exist co-versely together.
  • Classes and Branch Organization Set Up

Classes and Branch Organization Set Up
The Department of Education sets up a branch organization for special children. This allows classes to be taught to cater to students' disabilities. I choose this because this marks the beginning and pursuit of when the two educations split paths. The split of these two created many more opportunities for special ed to grow and for many other disabilities to get accommodated. It also shape the landscape of the educational system we would see today.
  • Education for all Handicapped Children was signed

Education for all Handicapped Children was signed
This law was signed in 1975. This law had four purposes.
    1. To make sure all children had access to their disabilities
    2. Assure the rights of families are protected
    3. Assist states and localities to provide for these disabilities
    4. Assure the effectiveness of teaching these disabilities
I choose this because this was a big win for disabled families. After fighting for two decades they get their big break with the passing of this law. It helped keep children's and parents' rights assured.
  • American with Disabilities Act was Passed

American with Disabilities Act was Passed
This Law, "'Prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, state and local government, public accommodations, commercial facilities, transportation, and telecommunications” (US Department of Justice, Lifeworks, 2022). I choose this event because this was the law that said that you could no longer be denied your inalienable rights due to your disability. This also included education. This shaped the landscape because it gave everyone no matter who they were equality in life.
