    May 17, 1954 although Brown vs. Board of Education aimed to end legal segregation in public schools based on race, the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling paved the road to equal public education opportunities for all U.S. Citizens. (Royster)
    Stated that segregated schools were unconstitutional. The courts ruled that any public schools are from discriminating against the students with disabilities.

    1965: Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the State Schools Act provided states with grants to help educate children with disabilities. ("The History of Special Education," 2017)

    The 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act "became the statutory basis upon which early special education legislation was drafted."
    The states provide a grant assistance to be able to work with students with disabilities. However, it will give grants to state schools that will be devoted to the education of children with disabilities.

    Rehabilitation Act Amendments Section 504

    The 1973 amendments to the Rehabilitation Act is often thought of as the most significant legislation that was passed in regards to citizens with disabilities. (Woods, 2006)
    In the United States courts gave all individuals with disabilities civil rights. Students ages 3 through 21 they should have the equal rights for education.
    In 1973, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act stated a person with a disability cannot be denied benefit from any program.

    Education fro All Handicapped Children Act

    The Education for all Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94-142) ensured that all handicapped children have a free education designed to meet their special needs.
    With the help of courts cases, such as Brown vs. Board, the enactment of the Education for all Handicapped Children Act made sure that students with disabilities are educated in all public school districts. (Peterson, 2007)

    Final Court Ruling

    1975: Education for all Handicapped Children Act (EHA) was signed into law by President Ford and enacted by Congress. (Esteves & Rao, 2008) The law will give local and statewide support and protection to children and the youth with disabilities.
    It provided each student with an Individualized Education program or IEP, which laid out the student's education program. (US Department of Education, 2010)
    This law is to make sure that all children with disabilities can get the appropriate education.

    Americans with Disabilities Act

    "The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 was a landmark in disability rights legislation" because it extended the rights beyond that of Section 504.(Woods, 2006)
    The rights of people with disabilities into society by having equal rights include accommodations, accessibility, and transportation to schools with mobility, health or visual impairments.

    President Bush signed it into law in 2002. The act is based on four education principles: stronger school accountability in improving the student learning, local schools has increased inflexibility to have specific students needs, expanded options is available for parents, and teaching methods have strong positive research basis.
    In the United States the schools should give the students the opportunity to get a better education.

    2001: No Child Left Behind (Public Law 107-110) or NCLB was the re authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. According to Education Week (2011), "At the core of the No Child Left Behind Act were a number of measures designed to drive broad gains in student achievement and to hold states and schools more accountable for student progress." (pg.1)
    President Bush signed it into law in 2002.

    The American history, students with disabilities they struggle throughout the school year. The IEP and classroom setting, the students should be in a classroom where the students feel comfortable.
    In the mid-1970's, laws in most states refuse to enroll any students with disabilities.
    In New Jersey in schools they have speech therapy to help the students to be able to communicate with their teachers and other students.
