  • Gallaudet Univeristy

    Gallaudet Univeristy
    In April 8 1864, Gallaudet University opened as the national deaf and mute college with a total of 13 kids and it is still opened today.
  • Beattie V. Board of Education

    Beattie V. Board of Education
    The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in favor of the school district, allowing the school to expel children with disabilities that were a distraction to the class.
  • Cuyahoga County Council for the Retarded Child

    Cuyahoga County Council for the Retarded Child
    The Cuyahoga County Council for the Retarded Child was established. A group of 5 mothers of children with mental retardation protested for their children because they were excluded from public school.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    The court ruled that the state could not deny an individual's right to equal access to education based on an intellectual or developmental disability status.
