    Education for all Handicapped Children Act
    This act requires states to provide a free and appropriate education to children with disabilities, who are between the ages of 5 and 18. This act also mandated parent's rights to advocate for their child, and to dispute the school's decisions. This act provided federal funding for the education of students with disabilities.
  • Education of the Handicapped Acts Amendment

    Education of the Handicapped Acts Amendment
    This act was the first to address children with disabilities younger than 5 years of age. It extended free and appropriate public education to children with disabilities from the ages of 3 to 5 years of age. it also established early intervention services to children with disabilities from birth to three years of age.

It also eliminates use of short term objectives in an IEP. This act raised the standard for special education licensure.
