    On the opening day of the London 1948 Olympic games, the first wheelchair athletes competition took place. This milestone was called Stoke Mandeville Games (The IPC).

    Brown vs. Board of Education reslted in the desegregation in schools. This meant students of different races could be allowed in the same classrooms. In addition, this law set the principle for students with disabilities to receive a free public education (Turnbull, Turnbull, Wehmeyer & Shogren, 2016).

    Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children (PARC) v. Pennsylvania Board of Education resulted in free public education for any student with a disability regardless of their age. PARC also explained not allowing a student free education before the age of 5 would cause a negative effect on the child's development (Li, 2013).

    Mills v. Board of Education ruled that children could not be denied an education based on their disability. The judge also ruled schools could not suspend children with disabilities for more than two days (Li, 2013).

    Every Student Succeeds Act resulted in states having more say in their states education. This allows states to create their own goals, pick what they feel is more important and determine how to fix low-performing schools (Klein, 2016).
