Colombus was looking for spices, riches, and a route to India for Spain. Colombus built the first settlement in the New World and he brought back gold and other goods. He started the first exploration of the New World. -

Pineda created the first map of the gulf coast from Florida to Texas. This is important because this map lead to other exploring the land on the Gulf Coast. -

DeVaca discovers Texas
De Vaca got to Texas because the people on the boat went to a different place because they assumed that he was dead.They built boats with the people that he was stranded with and when they were sailing a gale moved them in a different direction and the crashed on Galveston. He was here for 8 years. He met the Karankawas. -

Moscoso's expedition
De Soto was his leader and he gave the same basic report as Coronado . Because of this they would not return for 150 years. -

Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
The purpose of this expedition is to study the land to the north or evaluate this. Esteban was killed by Zuni because he thought that they were a different tribe. Fray Marcos said that he saw the city of gold and that it was larger than Mexico City. -

Coronado's Expedition
The turk was his guide for the second part of his trip. the guide died because he lead them to a fake second city of gold. He discovered Texas- Palo Duro Arizona. His importance is he said that they shouldn't go to Texas and that we didn't have gold.
