Columbus' First Voyage

Columbus was looking for a new route to Asia/India. Instead he found the New World. It is important because he started the exploration of the new world.

Pineda's voyage

Pineda mapped the coast line from Florida to Texas. It was important because his map led to others exploring the land on the Gulf Coast.

Cortes voyage

Feb 18, 1519

Cortes conquerd the Aztecs in Mexico/New Spain and took over there capital Tenochtitlan. It was important because he found lots of gold and made more Spaniards come to New Spain to find gold and explore.

DeVaca voyage part 1 start day

DeVaca's leader was Narvaez. The purpose was to colonize Spanish Florida.

DeVaca discovers Texas

Nov 6, 1528

DeVaca shipwrecked in Galveston,TX. DeVaca was in Texas for eight years. He met the Karankawas in Galveston.

Fray Marcos and Estavanico's Journey

May 21, 1531

The purpose of there journey was to find the seven cities of Cibola. Estaban went ahead of the party and was killed by the Zuni tribe. Fray Marcos reported that he saw the seven cities of Cibola from a distance but it seemed like the same size as Mexico City.

Moscoso's Expedition

DeSeto was the original leader. DeSoto dies of a fever bye the Mississippi River so they threw him into the river. They discovered the Mississippi River.

Coranado's Expedition

Jan 1, 1540

Coranado searched for The 7 Cities of Cibola and Quivera. His second guide was Turk and Coranado made Turk dig a hole for his grave. Coranado discoverd Palo Duro Canyon and Grand Canyon. It was important because it made the Spaniards not go back to Texas.
