Columbus's First Voyage

Aug 3, 1492

He was looking for a new route to Asia, but instead he ''found'' the Americas. He started Spanish exploration due to the treasures he found.

Cortes's Voyage

Oct 25, 1519

Cortes conquered the Aztecs and Mexico. He found 99 tons of gold by 1570. he sparked an interest for many people to explore the Americas because all of the gold.

Pineda's Voyage

Oct 30, 1519

He mapped The Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas. This is important because it is a breakthrough in Spanish Exploration.

Devaca Voyage pt.1

The original leader was Narvez the purpose was to find gold in Florida

Devaca discovers Texas

Oct 30, 1533

He discovered Texas by getting caught in a storm and was washed ashore onto Galveston Island which he called Malhaldo which means misfortune.He lived there for four years and met the Karankawa Indians.

Fray Marcos & Esteban

The purpose of this journey was to find the Seven Cities of Gold. when they met a Native American tribe they killed Esteban & Fray Marcos reported that he saw the Cities of Gold.

Moscoso's Expedition

The original leader was DeSoto and he wore gold armor which made the indians think he was a god & when he died they threw him into the Mississippi River. When, Moscoso reported back to the King and Queen he backed up Coronado and said it was horrible which made it so there would be no major expedition

Coronado's Voyage

Oct 30, 1540

Coronado searched for Cibola and Quivara. While, he was searching for Quivara he had a guide known as "The Turk". When, they got to Quivara it was just an adobe village and Turk was forced to dig his own grave and was choked to death. Later, Coronado reported that Texas's land had nothing to offer.
