Columbus was trying to find riches for the king and queen's land, looking for a west water route to India. Columbus found a new world, gold, turkeys, pineapples, and some natives americans. It was important because started Spanish Exploration. -

Cortes discovered Tenochtitlan. He conquered the Aztecs, and he got jewels and gold from the emperor of the Aztecs. Cortes did accomplish his goal of getting gold and riches. This was important because he create the interest of people to explore North and South America. -

Pineda's voyage
Pineda discovered that Florida was part of a large mainland. He was the first to map the Gulf from Florida to Texas. he also found a water route to the pacific ocean, and report the region. This was important because his map helped others explore the Gulf Coast. -

DeVaca voyage Part I start day
He Started expedition in Florida with Narvez as the leader and 300 men. The purpose of the expedition was to help Narvez to find gold. -

DeVaca discovers Texas
DeVaca's journey to Texas was a disaster from the beginning. A bunch of accidents plagued his expedition's while they explores north Florida. Then the survivers made five boats and were headed to sea, which for other conflicts they had to go back to shore. DeVaca's shipwrecked on Galveston, TX. with only 80 survivors. DeVaca was in Texas for 4 years trying to survive by trading with the indians. He met the Karankawa Indians, Coahuiltecan Indians, and the Jumano Indians. -

Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
The purpose of this journey was to study and evaluate the land. Esteban wore a robe and held a rattle, while interrupting a ceremoy. The Zunis said that he crossed a line, and they over powered him, an killed him. Fray Marcos reports seeing the most beautiful grand and golden city. -

Coronado's expedition
He was searching for two cities Cibola and Quivera, instead of wealth, he found a Indian village (Zuni) in what are today Arizona and New Mexico. The Turk was his guide for the second part to Quiviria.Turk got strangled, because he lied about the golden city. Coronado discovered Palo Duro and the Grand Canyon. -

Moscoso' expedition
The leader was De Soto. De Soto died from a fever at the Mississippi River, and the command of the expedition was passed onto Moscoso. They discovered the Mississippi River.
