He was the first to map the Gulf Coast from Florida to Texas and he wrote the first report of the region.
It was important because his map led to others exploring the land on the Gulf Coast. -

Cortes Voyage
He conquered the Aztecs and their leader Moctezuma in Tenochtitlan in Mexico.
The important of this event is that he sparked the interst of many people to explore North and South America because he found so much gold. -

His leader was Narvez and the purpose of the expedition was search for gold in Florida. -

DeVaca Discovers Texas
They got left in Florida and build 5 crude boats to get back to Cuba but they got shipwrecked on Galveston and they were 8 years in Texas.
They meet Karankawa,Coahuiltecan, and Jumano tribes. -

Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
There goal was to study the land in the north.Esteban got killed by the Zunis because he was demanding woman and food and they didn't like it.Fray Marcos reported that he saw the most beautiful grand and golden city and that it looks larger than Mexico city. -

The Soto was the original leader but because he dies Moscoso took the leadership.They discover the Missisippiriver. -

Coronado's expedition
Coronado was searching for Cibola and Quivera.His guide for the second part of his journey was a slave from the Indians nicknamed “The Turk",when Coronado and others figure out what Turk has done, they makes him dig his own hole and Coronado strangles him to dead. Coronado had discovered Palo duro canyon and the Grand canyon. The importance of his journey was that his report of Texas did that the Spanish didn't returned for any major expeditions for 150 years.
