Christopher was looking for a west water route to Asia. He found what he named the New World but was actually North and South America.He also brought back gold and other goods. The importance of finding the New World was that it would have bben found later in time and another expolrer would have found it. -

Oineda was the first to map the coast, which was North and South America. The importance was that this helped future explorers know the different routes that could be used. -

Cortes conquered Mexico and the Aztecs. The importance of this was that he was looking for gold and didnt find anything but he did get very little land. -

The leader was De Soto, the prupose was the search for gold. Spain would not return for 150 years because of the reports, the reports were the same as Coronado. -

Coronados Expedition
Coronado was looking for the seven cities of gold, he searched for Quivara and Cibola, the importance of his trip was that he found both Palo Duro and the Grand Canyon. -

Fray Marcos and Estebans Journey
Fray Marcos and Estebans purpose was to study land to the north, fray marcos reported of seeing the most beautiful,grand,and golden city, he was killed by the zunis for demanding women and food. Coronado was sent to find the cities.
