Social Media in Our Class

  • Introduce technology rules

We will describe proper uses of internet, cell phones and other applications during class time.
  • Web Poll

We will introduce them to the web poll so they can use it through out the year. This is one of the many ways that cell phones and texting can positively influence learning.
  • Distracted students on the internet

Justin was caught surfing the internet for Selena Gomez images. This was not part of the class assignment. We will turn off the internet rouder to teach him a lesson of proper internet usage during class time.
  • Distracted student watching tv online

Scotty was caught catching up on Desperate Housewives in class. This was not part of the assignment. To teach proper internet use, Scotty is not allowed to surf the internet for remainder of the year independently.
  • Introduce Twitter

We introduce twitter to the class and create a classroom hash tag. Students create twitter accounts and are encouraged to share educational thoughts and ideas.
  • Student caught posting inappropriate tweets

Danielle tweeted an inappropirate message about Leannes actions at a beer pong tournament and used the class hash tag. This message is not educational and Danielle lost her tweeting abilities.
  • Student posting videos on YouTube

During a presentation by Keli, Tracey decides to film the presentation without Keli's knowledge. Tracey posts the video on YouTube. Keli is upset that he did not realize this material was being posted for public. We have a discussion with Tracey about the importance of getting consent from people before posting videos online.
  • Holiday Break

By Holiday Break, the students have learned how to use technology effectively in the classroom.
