    At the all Black School there were only African-American students and even Staff Members.These students attended Happy Plains School In this image it shows my grandmother. I asked her what she thought it would be lke to have gone to school with people of other race. She told me " I think it would have been fun because I worked with white people and they treated me nice and with respect just as I did them."

    The Class of 1970 this ws the first sign of colored people and white people coming to gether at one school in alexander county this took place at Alexander Central School for its first year with a total of 14 minority seniors.

    The End of Segregation

  • Charlotte made a push

    A federal court ruled the Pearsall Plan unconstitutional, and the state took control over local school districts. By this time, schools in North Carolina had begun to desegregate. But numerous school systems had not integrated. The United States Supreme Court in 1971 upheld a decision that declared that the Charlotte school system must desegregate. Which lead to Alexander County schools doing the same thing.

    The Class of 1975 had a total of 16 minority studetns in the image it shows that that 5 years after Alexander Central had started to make progress and let the school have an Afro-American club which is commonly known today as the MAC Club

    The Class of 1980 was obviously not a ordinary class. The times of segregation have blown over and disent even bother them. The y had a total of 19 minority seniors.

    the class of 1985 had a total of 15 minority students.
    In the picture it says this is just today meaninng that was probobaly the only day they would ever sit that still because the rest of them time was spent haning out among one another
  • The class of 1990

    In the class of 1990 there were 31 minority students which is a huge jump from 1958. My Uncle Josh was apart of this class and I asked him What would it be like to go to school with people of just his race. His respose was " I dont think i would have had as much fun as I did back then and also it would be boring due to lack of cultural diffrences".

    In the class of 1995 there were a total of 33 Minority Students.
  • The Class of 2000

    In 2000 the school segregation ended 30years ago and has made a long progressional jump because the class of 2000 had 31 minority students.

    In the class of 2005 there was a totoal of 40 Minority Students, In the image some of you may see a fimilar face.

    In the class Of 2010 there were 45 Minority Students. This is the most students AC has ever had so far. In ths image you see a lady in the bottom left connor that may look some you know.

    Last year we had a total of 41 students It obviuos that Haveing all this cultures together have helped make our community grow and it will most likely continue to grow.
