RRobles Timeline of MCCs

  • Junio College Bill

    HB 238 is introduced, the first state junio college bill to help pay for junior college in the state of Arizona. This was important because it allowed lower income students access to a higher education.
  • Welcome Phoenix College

    Phoenix College joins the Maricopa Community Colleges. This campus would go on to become one of the more important campuses in the entire district. This is important because the campus was located in central Phoenix, close to downtown and many highways.
  • Maricopa Skills Center

    Maricopa Skills Center
    Manpower and Training Act provides federal funds for the Maricopa Skills Center to begin classes at Phoenix Union High School. This is important because it allowed students access to vocational classes for specific trades.
  • Mesa's First Semester

    Mesa campus holds it's first semester of many. This is important because Mesa allowed students in the area of Tempe to attend a junior college that would otherwise not have access to ASU or other higher education institutions.
  • Glendale First Class

    Glendale campus offers it's first class. This is important because students further north of Phoenix would now have access to an affordable education.
  • Scottsdale First Classes

    Scottsdale offers their first classes this year. This is important because Scottsdale would provide education to the populations of Scottsdale and surrounding areas.
  • Job Training Partnership Act

    President Reagan replaces CETA with the Job Training Partnership Act. The new act prioritizes coordination with local business and industry needs, which is of great value to the Maricopa Skills Center.
