    Romeo is in love with Rosaline which he speaks about with Benvolio. Benvolio suggests that he looks for other girls to take his mind off of Rosaline. A servant of Capulet has Romeo read the guest list of the Capulet party and "invites" them if they are not Montagues.

    The Party

    The Party
    Romeo and his friends attend the ball, Romeo dances with Juliet and falls in love. They kiss, and Romeo leaves when the party ends, and goes over to Juliet's balcony. Mercutio and Benvolio look for him but cannot find him, as he is professing his love to Juliet. He tells her that he intends to marry her the following day.

    Good Morning
    Friar Lawrence is out picking herbs and medicinal plants when Romeo comes to speak with him. Friar Lawrence realizes that Romeo has not slept and thinks it is because of Rosaline. He is surprised when he learns of Juliet and agrees to marry them, thinking that it may end the feud between the families.

    Juliet meets Friar Lawrence and tells him that she intends to kill herself if she has to marry Paris. The Friar gives her a potion telling her that she must go into her room alone at night, take the potion, and it will "kill" her. She will wake in 42 hours in her family's tomb, and Romeo will take her away to Mantua.

    Juliet goes home, begs for forgiveness from her father, and tells him that she will marry Paris. She and the Nurse pick out her clothes for the following day's celebration. Juliet is then alone, has her doubts wondering if Friar Lawrence had actually given her poison, takes the potion, and slips into her "dead" state.

    She's Dead!
    On the day of the wedding, the Nurse attempts to wake Juliet up, but realizes that she is dead. Lord Capulet has the wedding festivities changed to fit the funeral while Balthasar (Romeo's man) travels to Mantua to inform Romeo of Juliet's death. Romeo goes to an apothecary, buys a poison, and travels to Verona to die with Juliet.

    Friar Lawrence learns that his other friar friend did not deliver his letter to Romeo, so Romeo would not be aware of Juliet's plan.

    Friar Lawrence intends to catch Romeo at Juliet's grave, Paris goes to visit as well, where he sees Romeo try to break into Juliet's tomb.
