Proclamation of 1763
The proclamation of 1763 was a law that baned the settlement in the west. It was designed to reduce the struggle between the Native Americans and the colonists. It allowed the British army to flee from the west and save money.This law broke their right to property. -
Sugar Act
This law was designed to stop the smuggling of goods in and out of the country. It gave naval officers writs of assistance, or better know search warrants witch allowed them to search colonial ships. It required timber, tobacco, and sugar to be shipped ddirectly from the colonies to Britian. It also set taxes on sugar, coffee, wine, and cloth. This law broke their right to property. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act put a tax on almost all mail coming into the colonies. This law violated their right as Englishmen to be taxed without their consent. It was designed to help pay for troops stationed in North America after the British won the Sevens Years War. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was designed to give the East India Company the sole right to sell tea to the colonies. The East India Company was a big corporation in Britian. The main purpose of this law was to keep the company from going broke. This law eventually led to the Boston Tea Party. -
Quartering Act
When the king made the British army resign from the west they need a place to stay so they inn keepers and officials to house and feed British soldiers. This law violated the colonists right to property.
