Inventions- Eyeglasses
Salvino D'Armate was the first person to design eyeglasses but he did not share his design with other people. The eyeglasses were a big invention for people who couldn't see. The first frames were made out of wood or leather. The first eyeglasses didn't have "arms" so you had to hold them up to your eyes to use them.

Fashion was very important in the Renaissance and it showed wealth and power. Wealthy people wore many items of clothing with different colors and materials. Peasants would only have 1-2 outfits. Men wore tights and stockings with a shirt and doublet over top. Women wore long dresses with large sleeves are jewelry usually sapphires and pearls.

Marriages were carefully arranged and well thought out. When the child was 2-3, the family would begin thinking of their marriage. The man was the head of the family. The men made all the decisions and the women had no share in any of the family's money. The women or wife just took care of the home.

The next popes lived in Avignon, and there was six of them. Pope Gregory moved the papacy back to Rome. This happened in 1377. When he died, the French Cardinals did not appreciate the new pope coming in so they elected a new pope. Luther was very angry at the church for what they were doing such as selling indulgences. He wanted to tell the church about the true path to salvation. He decided to write 95 Theses about all the things the church was doing wrong and the truth. Pope Leo X wanted Martin Luther to recant 41 of his Theses. Martin Luther needed more time and he did not want to because that was his beleifs on the Church and the lies they are telling people. In January of 1521, Luther was kicked out from the Church because of what he was saying about the Church.

Zacharias Janssen invented the microscope in 1590. They were used to look at tiny bugs and fleas. The invention of the microscope helped invent the telescope and eyeglasses.
