  • Theory, preliminary task

    Theory, preliminary task
When the year started, I lacked lots of knowledge on media terminology, magazine conventions and audience theory.
And in order to produce my preliminary task, I did research on a these themes, which later helped me produce it.
  • Editing, First magazine cover practice

    Editing, First magazine cover practice
The first attempt we made to make a front cover was this. We used a photograph of Chance the rapper. By doing this task, I learnt skills such as: cropping out the figure of an image, making a gradient background and I learnt to produce different mastheads with different textures, sizes, fonts and colors.
  • Photography, preliminary task

    Photography, preliminary task
My photography skills were very bad in comparison to my actual ones.
In the photo shoot for my preliminary task for my 6th form magazine cover, as I didn't know how to place the lighting in the "studio" I made the photographs too dark, which later affected the way the final cover looked.
  • Editing, preliminary task

    Editing, preliminary task
With the help of the skills I learnt in my first magazine cover practice, I got to create this front cover. When making it I struggled with certain things such as cropping the image and leaving only the girl but at the same time leaving the whole table, the color scheme, the shadows on the masthead and the fonts.
  • Theory, analysis of lifestyle magazines

    Theory, analysis of lifestyle magazines
For starting my magazine research, I researched on the type of magazines I wanted to focus on which were "lifestyle magazines".
I analyzed front covers, contents page and double spread articles, focusing on their conventions, as they were the parts of the magazine I needed to focus on as I would need to produce them later.
  • Theory, audience and feedback

    Theory, audience and feedback
After researching on certain things I needed to include in my magazine such as the color schemes, the masthead names or the typography. I created a survey which I later sent to my targeted audience in order to make my magazine as accurate to their tastes as I could.
  • Photography, magazine photoshoot

    Photography, magazine photoshoot
Differently form my 6th form magazine photo shoot, my lifestyle magazine one was taken outside and with natural lighting rather than in a studio with a plane background and a specific lighting.
  • Editing, final outcome

    Editing, final outcome
It is evident that I improved a lot my editing techniques from my first attempt of a magazine cover to this point.
The quality of the image is way better, my fonts choice was much better as well as the color schemes. I added not so basic elements such as the hand drawn wing or the bar code. As well, my final outcomes looked much better as I did them after researching on lifestyle magazine conventions.
