    Project Based Learning
    Project Based Learning will be introduced to staff. The benefits of PBL will be shared to get the teachers "buy in". It will be explained to staff that this is not additional work for them but replace xyz in their curriculum. Teachers will be guided how to facilitate and be given the expectations of the project.
    Admin will share videos of final projects from students of all different socioeconomic backgrounds. Staff will be encouraged to contact admin if they need assistance.
  • First week of school share PBL with students and parents

    Within the first week of school staff will explain to students what PBL is and how it will be implemented. Students will get a clear understanding of what the purpose of PBL is and how they are going to be guided throughout the process. Staff will share PBL projects that will spike the interest of students in order to get them excited for the project. Timelines and due dates will be distributed.
  • Parent Information Night

    School administrators and lead teachers will hold a parent information night on campus. Parents will learn about PBL and how the process work. They will have an opportunity to view student samples from other school sites. At this meeting, parents will be given calendar with due dates, as well as other important information. Parents will be encouraged to attended the final presentations to view students' completed projects.
  • Students Begin Projects

    Students will be assigned projects and divided into groups. They will begin their research and will be provided with timelines.
  • Students Research

    Students will continue their research. They will have weekly check-ins with their teachers.
  • Staff PLC

    Staff PLC
    Administrators will provide research to teachers on how to support and guide student learning through the PBL process. Teachers will be asked to give an update on how PBL implementation process is coming along in their classrooms.
  • Professional Development

    Professional Development
    Staff will be trained on how to assess the first draft of the PBL project and the Final Draft. Staff will further solidify their understanding of PBL. Teachers will also be able to collaborate with teachers from other grade levels/ other school sites.
  • Student Presentation Practice Run

    Each class will have a designated time slot where students will display their first draft of their projects. Administrators will observe class to class checking in on the presentations. Students will meet with teachers to make any final corrections to project before final presentations.
  • Final PBL Presentations.

    Final PBL Presentations.
    Final presentations will be held in the school multipurpose room in the evening. Students will set up informational booths similar to an expo. Parents will attend the event and witness how awesome their children are (and their child's administrator).
