  • Electricity!

One day in 1893, Alan MacMasters invented the electric toaster. being quite old, you would have to flip it whilst cooking if you want it cooked evenly
  • Other modifications

In 1913, Lloyd Groff Copeman thought it annoying to have to manually flip the bread. So he thought, "What if it flipped itself?" And he made just that, a toaster that flipped the bread itself. I'm sure seeing the bread turn around itself was quite the spectacle.

A few decades later, in 1921, Charles Strite saw a better way. he patented this design. more akin to modern toasters, it didn't just flip the toast itself, it cooked on both sides at once. more importantly, it popped up the toast once it was done!

Nowadays, you can buy toasters of any shape, size, or modification. One with wider slots? One with 4 slots? Or one with a decal of Spongebob's face on it? It's all up to you. You know what they say, "Toasters Toast Toast.".
