Birth
Peter was born on may 30 1672 in Moscow. He was the fourteenth child of Czar Alexei. However he was the first child of Alexei and his second wife. Being the first child, this made him the heir to the thore. -
Alexis dies
Alexis death was a major part in Peters life because it eventually led him to the thore. When he died Peter was named czar, a position he didn't want, so Feodor took control. When he died Ivan, peters half brother was crowned. -
Pennsalvania founded
William Penn founded Pennsalvania with a charter granted to him from King Charles II. He created Pennsylvania as a safe haven for quakers and all others. This message grabed the attencion of lots of people making people move there quickly. -
Begining of French and Indian Wars
Also called the seven year war, the french and indian war lasted from 1689 to 1763. It was the start of open hostilities towards great britian and the colonies. The main purpose of the war in the colonies was to accuire Canada as part of the british colonies. -
Peter fights at Azov
Before the battle at Azov Peter I was not interested in being Czar. As Peter and his troops were winning against the turks Peter relised the problems he would face as Czar. After Ivan died in 1696 Peter graciously accepted the throne. -
Peter goes to Europe
Soon after Peter was crowned ruler of Russia he sought to gain power. To do this he sent men west to Europe and gain information. Then in 1697 he also left to gather intelligence and knowledge of how to rule. -
Peter returns from Europe
A year after he left Peter returned witth enough knowledge to modernize Russia. When he retook power he quickly made efficient changes. Peters methods were unliked by most and he evn put taxes on beards -

The Great Northern War was a war fought between Russia and Sweden. It was started by Russia in order to become a major Baltic power. This war paved the way for Russia and gave Peter the title "The Great" -
Peter founds St.Petersburg
Peter made many reforms in Russia and also believed that Russia needs a new capital. So he created St.Petersburg and moved the capital from Moscow here. The city was on the Neva River and put Russia in line to be a major power in Europe -
Peter marries Catherine skavronskaya
Peter had an arranged marraige in 1689 with Eudoxia Lopukin but soon divorced her. In 1712 however Peter announced he had secretly married Catherine and they had a son. That son died and so fearing his 1st son Alexis was vying for the throne had him tourted and killed. -
Treaty of Nystad signed
The Treaty of Nystad was the treaty that ended the great norther war. Signed in Nystad Sweden gave up Ingria Estonina Livonia and some of Karelina to Russia. Peter had succeded in making Russia a major power in Europe -
Death
In Saint Petersburg Peter the great lay on his death bed with a silent vigil of the military and almost everyone in the city. He began to write his will but suddenly unable to write he dictaed it to someone. He died a 6 pm, one of Russias greatest leaders
