In 1547, Ivan was 17 years old and is ascending the throne. He became the first ever czar of Russia. This event is signifigant because he will be the first to ever have power throughout all Russia. People liked him because he has been creating a centrally controlled area.

The First National Assembly of Russia
In this time period, Ivan IV announced a new code of laws and also a new system for justice called the Sudebnik. This led the central Moscow government to become more professional because of labor and responsibilites. This was important because this let criminal acts to be clearly defined and had the judges share their ideas with locals to
prevent corrupt judgement.

Ivan IV ws reported ill in 1553 in Moscow. This was followed by and accidental drowning of his 6 month year old son. These events were important because they formed Ivan's angry personality.

Conquering Kazan and Astrakhan
Starting at 1552, Ivan led his troops to Kazan and took over the Tartar stronghold and they waited for them to surrender. Later, in 1554 they took over Astrakhan. These war victories are important because they extended the Russian nation south and east. This also added about 1,000,000 kilometers to Ivan's realm.

Applying Control
In 1556, Ivan applied control over all Boyars and Princes of Muscovy who still had private lands. He made them and their slaves to go into the cavalry. A smallpox disease is spreading in Portugal's Brazilian colony. This increases the need of sugar cane so the colony needs African slaves. This is important because the disease is causing higher imports of slaves that cost a lot.

Dssapeared from Moscow
In 1564, the Czar of Russia left Moscow with most of his valuables. He went to a fortified town called Aleksandrovsk. He had little communication witn Moscow. Massacre

On this date, a North Sea tidal wave destroys the seawalls of the Lowlands to Jutland. Floods are happening very quickly around the shores of the land. This is important because this tidal wave killed more than 1,000 people.

On this date Francois of Valois, (the brother of France's Henri III) is named King of Netherlands by Willem the Silent. One of Francois's goals was to regain Antwerp from the Spanish. This is important because the reign lasts for 17 years and Netherlands improves.

Death
Ivan the Terrible died in 1584 in Moscow. People believed that his stress, anger and uncontrollable outrages may have led to his death. His death was an important event because the people now could get a more calm and peaceful ruler to rule Russia. Source: (Biography.com)
