Nelson Mandela was Born
Rolihlahla Mandela was born on the 18th of July 1918 in Mvezo, Umtata. To his Parents Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa and Nosekeni Fanny. His father was a local cheif and councillor to the monarchand who was stood down for corrupiton in 1926 and his Mother occupation is unknown. -

Mandels started to attend Primary School at the age of 7 and was given the name Nelson by his teacher. -

Before filing for divorce in Late 1956, Evelyn claimed that Nelson had physically abused her and he denied the claims of abuse and both wanted custody of the kids but Evelyn won the custody of the kids and the divorce was finalised in March 1958. -

Winnie Madikizela was Mandela's second wife. She originally denied hie first marriage proposal but accepted his second marriage proposal. They got married in the October of 1958. -
Nelson Mandela was sent to Prison
In July of 1962, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison for leaving South Africa illegally to get people to join the protests. He spent his time in Prison at Robben Island Prison, Pollsmoor Prison and Victor Verster Prison. Lots of protests occured during Mandela's stay at prison and resulted in some deaths. -

Nelson Mandela's birthday was celebrated with a tribute concert at Wembley Stadium in London. The turnout was a huge sucess with lots of people attending the ceremony. They also rallied for his freedom. -

After 27 long years in Prison, Nelson Mandela was finally relased out of Prison on the 11th of Febuary, 1990. A international campaign helped Mandela get out of Prison after they were sucessful. He rose to fame after getting out of prison and soon went on to become a major star in South Africa and across the world. -

The election was held on 27th of April, 1994. Mandela decided to run for presidency as he was popular in South Africa and a great leader. The ANC won which Mandela was part of the party and they won the election and Nelson Mandela was crowned the first President of South Africa. -

Mandela started getting tierd in 1996 and he soon decided that he wanted to retire from politics. In 1999, at a presidency speech he said to the world that he was retiring from polictics and that he would no longer be the President of South Africa. After the speech, he soonr retired and would live a happy life. -

Nelson Mandela died of a long prolonged respiratory infection on the 5th of December. He was surronded by his close families and he died happy. -
Mandela laid to rest
Nelson Mandela had a state funeral on the 15th of December, in Qunu, Eastern Cape. 4,500 people atteneded the ceremonry and it was broadcast internationally. He was given a 21 gun salute and a missing man formation flyover to remember, his family, his wives and his friends attended.
