Was a literacy and artistic movement celebrating African - American culture. Even though Harlem has suffered from overcrowding, umemployment and poverty they still found time to celebrate this. Due to the fact that it was a literary movement led by well - educated middle class african americans. -

The U.S. highway 66 which runs 2,448 miles from chicago to Los angeles is finished. As well as california was officialy established. Taking route 66 through oklahoma gave the state more miles as well as more jobs. -
Last Model T ford show
In 1927 the last Model T - Ford rolled off the assembly line. On December 2nd some 1 million New yorkers mobbed show rooms to view the new Model A. The car was available in differnt colors like arabian sand. -
The Stock Market Crashes - Black Tuesday
The bottom fell out of the market and the nation's confidence. Shareholders tried desperately to sell before the prices of stock dropped to low. The number of shares dropped was a record of 16.4 million. -
Depression in cities
Deprssion hit alot of people fast but some of the places that got hit the hardest were in cities. Leading people to have to go live in the streets and forced them into a state where thay couldn't recover from. -

This act established the highest protective tariff in farmers and manufacturers from foreign competition. It had the opposite effect by reducing the flow of foods americans had to pay more for foods which made many bankrupt. -

Alot of american families tried to make the best of times in a downward spiraling economy. Though it was hard for most familys to actually make the best of times in situations like that. While most of them could not and had to resort to moving out of their homes. -
Civil war breaks out in spain
A group of spanish army officers led by general Francisco Franco rebelled againest the Spanish Republic. The war arroused passions not only in Spain but throughout the world. About 3,000 americans formed the Abraham Lincoln Battalion and traveled to spain to join the Spanish Republic in a fight againest Franco. -

Battle of Britian
In the summer of 1940 the Germans assembled an invasion fleet along the French coast. And because they couldn't compete againest Britians naval fleet they decided to launch an air war at the same time. Then shortly after started making bombing runs over Britian to gain control of the skies was it's main goal. -
The attack on Pearl Harbor
On December 6th the day before peral harbor Franklin Roosevelt recieved a decoded message that instructed japan's peace envoy to reject all American peace proposition. The following day early in the morning a japanese dive - bomber swooped low over Pearl Harbor. He was followed by 180 japanese warplanes launched from six aircraft carriers and began bombing. -
The United Nations was formed
Representitives of 50 nations met in San Francisco to establish this new peacekeeping body. After two months of debate the delegates signed the charter creating the United Nations. The official charter was signed on June 26, 1945. -

In June of 1947 Secretary of State George Marshall proposed that the U.S. should provide aid to all European nations. They sayed they needed the money not to attack other nations or countries. But to help get rid of hunger, poverty, desperation and chaos throughout Europe Nations. -
H - Bomb
The scientists who developed the atomic bomb had suspected that it was possible to create an even more destructive thermo - nuclear weapon. They believed that they could make a bomb that would have the force of 1 million tons of TNT. On november 1st 1952 we won the race to create the first H - bomb.
