My Media Journal timeline.

I grew up living with my great-grandparents. Hence their age, they prefer traditional media over new media. Every morning, they go outside to buy breakfast, and along with that buy a newspaper for daily news. They usually buy the BULGAR NEWSPAPER. With this, I have encountered Newspaper at a very young age.

The first time I remember encountering a phone was when I was 5 years old. It was a keypad phone where my mom would communicate with my dad who was working in Balintawak. I would sometimes borrow the phone to play the game "Snake"

The first ever gadget I owned and used so much was a PSP. When I was 5 to 6 years old, my parents along with my aunties bought me and my cousins a PSP. With that, we play with each other. I used to play Naruto Shippuden and Tekken so much with my PSP.

My dad also loves playing video games, especially basketball. During my first grade in elementary, I remember going home and seeing my dad with a new and intriguing device that looked like a PSP connected to a TV. When I learned what it was, my dad began teaching me how to use the controller. He also downloaded some games I could play. However, I preferred watching him play games like Basketball.

I once owned, my parents handed me down an old iPod. I loved using the iPod since I've always liked listening to music. I had the iPod for two years. Every morning, I would untangle the earphones connected to my iPod and I would listen to songs from my parents' generation. an artist I listened to so much on my iPod is a band called Backstreet Boys.

When I was 7 years old, in our new home, my dad bought a second-hand XBox 360. It was a better version of our previous game stations. He played basketball using the XBox. I also tried playing Left 4 Dead in the game station, but I get scared easily during that age and I panic at the enemies coming at me in the game. With that, I again, preferred watching them play and I would scream whenever I got startled at the enemies that would come.

My dad then upgraded our XBox and bought a Kinect Device that we could connect to the game station. This device is a motion-sensing device where you will use your body as the controller of the game. My cousins and I loved playing Just Dance with Kinect. We also played sports using Kinect like Table Tennis and Volleyball. Other games we would play are racing games, adventure games, and many more.

I encountered a smartphone at the age of 7 because that was when my family started upgrading their cellphones. However, my first cellphone was when I was 8 years old. It was a red Lenovo Phone that I used for 2 years.

I first encountered an actual postcard when I was 9 years old. As I was looking through the things of my grandmother, I stumbled across a postcard that her son who lives in the United States of America gave her. The postcard was a picture of the Bryce Canyon International Park. Behind the postcard explains their experience in the place as they spent their vacation there. It was amazing especially when they said that the place looks exactly like the picture when seen in person.

I do not remember when I first encountered a magazine. However, the first magazine I bought was AlDub's Yes Magazine. This was during the peak of the AlDub Loveteam. I was a huge fan and bought things related to the loveteam that I could afford. I remember reading the magazine thoroughly and that was when I learned that magazines do not only include things related to the one in the cover but also include other people's stories.

The first book I ever bought was a white version of the book named "#hugotlines". This was published by PSICOM. During that time, hugot lines were very trendy and it was almost everyone's sense of humor. I remember strolling down the mall and seeing the book. It was only for PHP 49.00. With that, I bought the book and used it to improve my "hugot lines" that I could say with my friends.

When I was 10 years old, my great-grandfather gave me an old alarm clock that could also function as a radio. I used that as my alarm clock from 4th grade to 6th grade. Whenever my alarm goes off, I get up and turn on the radio function of the device. I used to listen to 97.5 and 95.5 radio because the music on those stations was up to my liking. I will listen to songs playing on the radio as I get ready for the day.

The first tablet I have ever had was a black Lenovo Tablet. The money we used to buy the tablet was from my piggy bank savings. I remember that I had around PHP 3,000.00 in my piggy bank. The tablet was worth PHP 5,000.00. The remaining PHP 2,000.00 was paid by my parents. I used the tablet for four years. It is where I watched youtube videos and played games to pass time.

MY grandparents from Japan used to hand us down their old Apple products. My father at that time was handed down an iPad mini 4. He used it for 2 years and then he handed it down to me. Today, the iPad is now 8 years old and is still working. Up to this day, I still use the iPad to watch videos and I also downloaded offline games that I can play when there is no WiFi connection. I play these games with my sisters and cousins.

When I was in 6th grade, I became a huge fan of reading e-books that are fictional romances. I was introduced to Wattpad by my classmate. I read many stories by the author Jonaxx and have also read works of others like Owwsic and Kissmyredlips. Up to the present, I still read romance books on Wattpad.

I first encountered a computer. However, our family's first laptop was bought in 2017. My cousins and I used to take turns in using the laptop. We would play games on the computer because we were only allowed to go out of the house when the sun wasn't too violent on our skin. It is also where I did my assignments before having a personal laptop.

Even when I was a kid, I already had a Facebook account. However, my mom was the one using it. During the last months of 6th grade and transitioning to 7th grade, I started to use my Facebook account for my personal use. In the proceeding years, I made other accounts on other platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Musical.ly (now known as TikTok), and Snapchat.

My mom had a laptop before but the first laptop I owned was a Toshiba Laptop. I used the laptop for four years. It was very useful for my studies, especially during the pandemic. I used it during online classes, for researching, doing assignments, and many other various activities I do at school.

Before my current phone, I was given an Opportunity Smartphone for winning my BULPRISA-Essay Contest. The phone lasted for 3 years. For Christmas of 2019, I was gifted a Huawei Y7A. I have been using this phone ever since. I use this phone to connect with people, for personal entertainment, and to acquire information daily.

The recent device I acquired is a MacBook Air. I used my first laptop for quite some time. It's for a short amount of time before I start college. Hence, I will need a laptop that can perform better so it will not be hard for me to keep up with the requirements I need to pass my courses. With this, my parents gifted me my dream Macbook laptop on my 18th Birthday back in November 2023.
