A mix of Criollos, Mestizos and Indians decided to rebel against Spanish authorities. In Josefa's home, secret meetings began to occur. People began to plot against Spaniards. -
Caught in Action
The Penninsulares hear about the independence intentions of the Indians. As the people plotting against the Spanish government were caught, Doña Josefa managed to alert the men in the floor below to go forward with he independence movement. -
"El Grito"
The famous "Grito", is considered as a symbol in Mexican History as a sign of war. It took place in the small town of Dolores, marking the begining of the Mexican Independence. Miguel Hidalgo had the honor of initiating this movement. -
Alhóndiga
Led by Miguel Hidalgo, his furious and lethal group of warriors took control of Alhóndiga, were the Spanish were staying. -
Battle at Monte de las Cruces
The Battle begins. Hidalgo's army gains in men and in power. Between Allende's and Hidalgo's men, they managed to move forward in their war. -
Calleja vs. Hidalgo + Allende
At the Calderon bridge, Calleja suffered from an unexpected encounter with Hidalgo and Allende's men. Obviously, Calleja's men were outnumbered and lost a terrible battle. -
Hidalgo's Death
Hidalgo was executed by the Spaniards. Captured in Monclova, and executed in Chihuahua. -
Battle of Temalca, José María Morelos
José María Morelos took Hidalgo's position after his death. Led by Morelos, the rebels lost their battle against the Spaniards. Morelos was later killed by the Spaniards. -
Plan de Iguala
AKA the Plan of Three Guarantees. Created by Iturbide, for Vicente Guerrero. Three guarantees: Social equality, complete independence, and a roman catholic religion. -
Independence at Last
Mexico is declared as an independent country. As Spaniards attempt to reconquer, they fail miserably times again.
