First Revelation
Muhammad began making trips to a mountain cave outside of town where he fasted and meditated. After many visionary experiences, he was visited by a powerful prescence that told him to recite words that he attributed to God. It was a very overwhelming experience for him. -

Muhammad Takes his Message Public
After having the experiences and revelations that he had, Muhammad decided to reveal his message to the public. His message became the Qur'an, which is Islam's sacred scripture. Because of this, Meccan tribes ridiculed and attacked Muhammad and his followers for leaving behind traditional Meccan ways. They eventually attempted to assassinate Muhammad. -

Conquest of Mecca
In January, 630, Muhammad and the Muslims marched on Mecca and had many tribes join them along the way. They didn't cause any bloodshed, and because the Meccans had seen the power the Muslims had, they too joined Muhammad and the Muslims. -

Return to Mecca
Muhammad moved to Medina and lived there permanently. In March he then went to Mecca to perform a pilgrimage one last time with many Muslims joining him. -

Death
On June 8th, 632, Muhammad died in Medina shortly after the pilgrimage. He died after suffering a brief illness and is buried in the mosque in Medina. His teachings and way of life had spread through Arbia, to Indo-China, and west into Morocco, France, and Spain. -
Military Period
Between 624 & 628, Muhammad and his followers were in three battles against the Meccans. The first, the battle of Badr, was won by Muhammad in March in the year 624. The second, the battle of Uhud was won by the Meccans in March 625. The third battle, the battle of the Trench and the Siege of Medina, was outlasted by the Meccans in April of 627, This led to a treaty between the two in March in the year 628. Muhammad's Marriage
Muhammad marries his first wife Khadija when he's twenty-five and she is nearly forty. (Khadija proposed marriage) They had six children with two of their sons dying during infancy, and four daughters. -
