Muhammad was born approximately in 570 AD, to Aminah bint Wahb and Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib. He was born in Mecca, about 500 years after Jesus.

Muhammad's journey to Syria

During this event, Muhammad traveled with his uncle to Syria with a caravan of merchants. It is said that a Christian monk came to Muhammad's uncle during the caravan and said that Muhammad would be the last prophet. The monk's name was Bahira

Muhammad begins to see visions

Muhammad begins to see visions and hallucinations that he thinks are demonic. He repeatedly sees these visions and tells his friends and family about them. Muhammad was in the Hira cave at the time this happened and believed that the angel Gabriel was there with him.

Muhammad's midnight ride to Jerusalem

Muhammad recalled having flown to Jerusalem on a flying animal named al-Buraq to Jerusalem while along the way running into famous Jewish prophets and Jesus. He recounted entering the temple in Jerusalem where he went in to pary, when he reached the city. The trip that Muhammad took encompassed about 766 miles from Mecca to Jerusalem

Muhammad flees from Mecca

Muhammad flees from his home town of Mecca because he over hears a plot by people to kill him. He flees to the near by city of Medina and begins to convert more followers. This day also marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar

The Battle of Badr

Was Muhammad's first military victory. Established Islam as a military presence in the Arabian peninsula. Killed his main adversary in this battle whose name was Amr ibn Hisham.

The Battle of Uhud

The battle was between the people of Mecca and the Muslims from Medina. Muslims suffered severe losses during this battle. The Muslims had to retreat and Muhammad was wounded

Muhammad's son's Birth

Muhammad's son's name was Ibrahim and his mother was Maria al-Qibtiyya. Ibrahim means Abraham, and he was named after the Abraham in the Bible. He died less than two years after he was born

Muhammad Attacks Mecca

Muhammad lead his troops into Mecca, and destroyed all the statues inside of it. This period of armed conflict between the people of Mecca and Muhammad's forces is remembered in the practice of Ramadan. He also converted the leader Abu Sufyan, the leader of Mecca to Islam.

Muhammad's Death

Muhammad became very ill in Medina. He died in his wife Aisha's arms at the age of 62 or 63. This also meant that his followers would now have to keep their religion alive.
