  • French Revolution began

    Carlos IV came to Spain just as French Revolution began in 1788.
  • Treaty of Fontainebleau

    In 1807 Manuel Godoy (The Prime Minister), Signed the Traty Of Fontainebleau with Napoleon Bonaparte.
    Spain anr France agreed to invade Portugal but France used it to achieve another objetive, The Invasion of Spain.
  • The War of Independence

    The French Revolution caused an uprising in Madrid and started The war of independence. Howeber it was not only a war against France, it also cause a Civil War about who the monarch should be.
  • The Cádiz Constitution was signed

    Cádiz was the only place that was not under the French rule and delegates met to draw up a constitution wich was signed in 1812.
    However it was abolished in 1814 by Fernando VII.
  • The Constitution was ilegal

    The constitution became ilegal when Fernando VII came to throne and revoked it in 1814.
  • Fernando VII died

    Isabel was only 3 years old when his father, Fernando VII, died.
  • Isabel II came to throne.

    Isabel II came to throne at the age of 13 years old.
    The Carlist wars happened.
  • Isabel II exile

    During Isabel II's regin, Spain became a parlamentary monarchy but his regin was caraterised by Political Inestability.
