  • The Queretaro Conspiracy

    The Queretaro Conspiracy
    In the beginning of the 1810 in the first months of the year, there was a conspiracy made in Queretaro in which (mainly creoles) planned the soon uprising to gain independence from Spain.
  • The Conspiracy Was Discovered

    The Conspiracy Was Discovered
    Jose Mariano Galvan spread the news of the conspiracy planning the uprising to his superiors which caused the Spaniards to go and arrest those who were involved in the conspiracy.
  • Grito de Dolores

    Grito de Dolores
    After being informed by Juan Aldama, Miguel Hidalgo decided to start the uprising although it was planned to start until the 8th of December. Miguel Hidalgo rang the bells of the church to get the towns people’s attention as he made the “Grito de Dolores” in which he was calling to combat all the people around.
  • Alhondiga de Granaditas

    Alhondiga de Granaditas
    Miguel Hidalgo and his men attacked the Alhondiga de Granaditas and eventually won the place. There were a lot of deaths this day from both sides of the war. Also, there is a myth of a man who people know as “El Pipila” who supposedly ran through all the bullets and soldiers until he was able to burn the door of the Alhondiga, allowing the rest of the army to enter.
  • The Regretful Decision

    The Regretful Decision
    Miguel Hidalgo and Ignacio Allende had expected a battle in Monte de las Cruces and came in with such strength that the Spaniards were forced to retreat. After that attack, Miguel Hidalgo chose not to attack directly the capital (Mexico City), but instead attacking other cities which cost the war to last more than 10 years.
  • First Defeat

    First Defeat
    Miguel Hidalgo, Ignacio Allende, Aldama and Mariano Abasolo fought against the Spaniards and lost. The insurgents army ran away up north trying to regain their strength.
  • Fall of the Leaders

    Fall of the Leaders
    Independence leaders were captured by the governor of Texas (Manuel Salcedo) and sent the leaders to be declared as traitors and get assassinated. After, leaders of the independence (including Miguel Hidalgo and Ignacio Allende) were decapitated and their heads were hanged around the Alhondiga de Granaditas in Guanajuato to scare the people.
  • Execution of Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon

    Execution of Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon
    José María Morelos y Pavón was captured and executed in the Mexico on November 1815.
  • Plan de Iguala

    Plan de Iguala
    Plan de Iguala was made by Agustin de Iturbide. The plan was to make Mexico into a constitutional monarchy, give equality to the creoles and peninsulars and to take away religion from the government.
  • Ending the War

    Ending the War
    The army of Three Guarantees (leaded by Agustin de Iturbide) came into Mexico City ending the war after 11 years.
