    Hidalgo met Ignacio Allende, Juan Aldama, Miguel Domínguez, Doña Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Epigmenio Gonzalez and Marino Galvan. They had a literary club where they began planning their Independence from Spain.

    Hidalgo was planned to be arrested on this day and Queretaro's Corregidor’s wife was informed about the criollos plan on the independence movement. So Allende left Queretaro to inform Hidalgo about what that was going to happen.

    The Conspiracy of Queretaro was discovered and Miguel Hidalgo Costilla, Ignacio Allende and Juan Aldama encourage the people of Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato to rise against the Viceroyalties of Spain. To do this they shout: “¡Viva la Virgen de Guadalupe! ¡Abajo el mal gobierno! ¡Viva Fernando VII!” This is the beginning of the Mexican Independence.

    An angry group of Mexican insurgents who are being led by Miguel Hidalgo descend on Guanajuato to attack the Spaniards and criollos. After a five-hour blockade the warehouse was overrun and all of the people that were inside got killed, either massacred or exiled.

    Battle of Monte de las Cruces
    Miguel Hidalgo’s and his angry army wanted to get to Mexico City to be able to have this city under their control. This battle was won by Hidalgo’s and Allende’s army.
  • Battle of Bridge of Calderon

    Battle of Bridge of Calderon
    The Spanish army fought the Battle of the Bridge of Calderon and ended up defeating the insurgent army. Then they forced the rebels to leave to the United States and Mexican border so that they could escape. But they were intercepted by Hidalgo y Costilla’s army and the Spanish army and captured the soldiers in Los Altos.

    Death of Hidalgo
    Hidalgo was executed by a firing squad in Chihuahua. His body was damaged and his head was displayed in Guanajuato to warn the rebels.
  • Battle of Temalaca

    Battle of Temalaca
    The Battle of Temalaca was a battle that happened in the area around Temalaca, Puebla. This was fought between the royalist forces that were loyal to the Spanish crown and the Mexican rebels fighting for their independence. The Mexicans were insurgents who were commanded by Jose Maria Morelos, the Spanish who were commanded by Manuel de la Concha ended up winning the battle.

    Plan of Iguala/Iguala Plan
    This plan was created by Agustín de Iturbide, it called fro and Independent Mexico ruled by a European prince, the possession of the Roman Catholic Church, the military with its powers and equal rights for the creoles and peninsulares.
  • Independent Mexico

    Independent Mexico
    The most important people of the Spanish crown including the Viceroy Juan de O’Donojú and Iturbide signed what is called the Treaty of Cordoba. This declared that Mexico was independent and was no longer being ruled by the Spanish. This happened because of the Plan de Iguala.
