Battle of Monterey took place on September 24, 1846. This battle took place in Monterrey the Mexican State of Nuevo Leon in the month of September 1846. General Taylor lead American forces through the streets and building. Storming General Ampudia headquarters causing him to call for surrender. The American forces captured another Mexican city. -

The American Army Took Control
On May 8, 1846. The American Army took control of the battle line from the Mexican forces. Many of the Mexican soldiers died just standing on the line. For a little bit of time the soldiers on both armies could not see for smoke from a fire that broke out. A lot of Mexican soldiers died during the battle because they burned to death. Being loaded with so much gear and guns a lot of Mexican soldiers drowned in the Rio Grande. The American soldiers went back to Fort Texas General Taylor and the other officers planned to cross the Rio Grande for an attack on the city of Matamoras. -

The Capture of Veracruz March 9-29, 1847
From March 9 to the 29th of 1847 The Capture of Veracruz took place. This was a city on the eastern coast of Mexico. A total of wounded and killed was 500 for Mexico, however American only had 70 combine. Is was then on March 26 Brigadar General Jose Juan Landero called a truce and gave the city over to the Americans. -
The Battle of Cerro Gordo
The Battle of Cerro Gordo took place on April 18, 1847. Casulaties this time were 1200 for the Mexican and American 440. General Scott careful planned this battle was from rear position this prevented Mexican army from running away to Jalapa. American captured 3000 Mexican soldier and of course won the battle. -
Battle of Conteras & Churubusco
August 19-20, 1847 Battles of Conteras & Churubusco. This happened over a shorter time leaving 4000 Mexican dead or injured. The American Army had 1028 combined. The American Army was able to take the upper hand which forced the Mexican soldiers into the city of Churubusco defeating them. This gave the Americans an important pathway into Mexico City. -

The Mexican soldiers were easily defeated at the entrance to Mexico city, however the citizens and soldiers still gave the American army and tough time. Though after defeat the Mexican general quiet and Manuel dela Peria became President. However on September 14, 1847 he to gave up to General Scott. -
US and Mexico - Peace Agreement
US and Mexico signed a peace agreement on January 1848 saying the US had to pay $15 million for the purchase of California and New Mexico. The Texas border was the Rio Grande. Those who lived in these areas became US citizens and allowed to stay in those areas.
