Ninnis’ Death
After 5 weeks of successful mapping of Antarctica’s coastline, Mawson and his other 2 expedition members- Xavier Mertz and Belgrave Ninnis- were sledding when Ninnis slipped down a crevasse and died. Taking all of their supplies with him. http://www.abc.net.au/btn/story/s4581021.htm -
Mertz’s Death

Return to Australia
Once Mawson had made his back the Aurora ship departed from Antarctica and made its way back to Australia. Mawson then went onto win numerous awards for his success in mapping Antarctica.
