Migrate to Blended Classroom Project
We will implement the blended classroom teaching model utilizing best practices and tools. These will include 1:1 computer devices, digital books, online curriculum, and computer programs/applications. These new technologies will be blended with traditional teaching techniques and processes. We will also create personalized plans for students and utilize student-centered vs. teacher-centered models while incorporating project based learning. -
Board Approval of Plan
We will present a detailed proposal and timeline for our blended learning classroom plan to the Board for their approval. We will highlight that we are currently a solely traditional classroom teaching model that utilizes printed paper textbooks, little to no computer devices, teacher-centered teaching style, and very little digital or online curriculum. The plan will detail how we will provide the necessary tools, budgetary requirements, and support/training for all stakeholders. -
Kick-Off
We will hold a kick-off meeting with all stakeholders to review the final approved plan. We will work on logistics, answer any raised questions, and provide all necessary materials including timelines and next steps. We will also listen to input and feedback to create action plans on any remaining details that we might not have covered or completed. -
PD - How to Transition to Blended Classrooms
This will be professional development (PD) for teachers and staff on how to transform their classrooms and culture to a blended learning classroom. We will provide all necessary devices, tools, and materials needed. We will highlight how to change to a student-focused learning environment, personalized instructional plans, focusing more on project based learning, creating makerspaces, moving furniture for collaboration spaces for students, as well as provide examples of these successful tools. -
1:1 Devices and Digital Content Deployed to Classrooms
We will deploy a mobile cart of devices to each classroom, enough for one device for each student. We will also deploy Destiny and its library of digital books along with other online library of ebooks systems/applications such as Khan Academy. We will provide technical support for the devices but also support for the digital and online resources and curriculum to ensure a quick and successful launch. -
Blended Classroom
Begin to transform our traditional classrooms to blended classrooms. We will do this in a number of ways but ultimately changing the culture within the district focusing more on how to engage and inspire students to learn and retain what they learn. And to provide an environment full of rich, rigorous, and exciting learning experiences. -
PD - Continued Support for Blended Learning Classrooms
We will provide professional development to support teachers and staff as they utilize this learning model to further enhance the learning experience as well as how to integrate technology devices and digital curriculum (ebooks, online curriculum, etc) into the teachers' lesson plans. We will continue to provide this support throughout the project and program implementation. We will also provide a dedicated TOSA and computer technician to ensure valuable instructional time is maximized. -
PD - Feedback, Review, and Analysis
We will get together and discuss issues, concerns, and successes of the blended learning project and environment to assess what changes we need to make for next school year. This feedback from staff and teachers will be instrumental in our analysis for subsequent changes and enhancements to the program. We will also meet with the accounting department to assess & analyze the program's expenditures to compare them to the plan & determine what changes need to be made for future implementations.
