Bill of Rights
On Sept. 25, 1789, the Bill of Rights was submitted to the states. It was put in to effect on the 15th of December. It is the first ten amendments of the constitution. When the writers wrote it it was against the law, had they not had the support that they did, then they wouldhave gone to jail for tyrancy. -
Louisianna Purchase
It was the purchase of 828,000 miles of land from the French. It cost about 15 million dollars, which cost about 233 million dollars in todays money. It bought the government about 15 states including most of South Dakota. It was called the Louisianna because it was important that New Orleans was a part of the deal, because it is such an important port city. -
Mexican War
Mexican American WarMexican and American War Mexico lost nearly half of its territory, the present American Southwest from Texas to California, and the United States became a continental power. Emancipation Proclamation
NO SLAVERY!!President Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery! It says that "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." WWI
WWIAmerica was entered into the firt world war by President Woodrow Wilson. Wilson cited Germany’s violation of its pledge to suspend unrestricted submarine warfare in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The US was a major help in the war effort against the Germans. If the war had not been won then America would not be the country it is today. -
19th Amendment
Illegal AlcholhaulThe 19th is the amendment that denyes descrimination due to sex. Woodrow Wilson was the president when the 19th amendment was passed. He didn't do much himslef to serve the betterment of the people. Most all he did was shepard it all along to make people happy. -
Prohibition
President Wilson was always against Prohibition and never did sign it. He was not very happy that they got the required amount of votes to pass it without his signature. Though on March 22, 1933 President Roosevelt signed it. On December 5th, the amendment to repeal the amendment. -
WWII
World War TwoAt first the US was attempting to stay out of WWII. The US was thrown into the war by the Japanese at the bombing of Pearl Harbour. It killed many people and enraged the country into being okay with the war. The military effort was strongly supported by civilians on the home front, who provided the soldiers, the munitions, the money and the morale to fight the war to victory. -
Vietnam War
Lyndon B. Johnson took the reigns to the Vietnam war after the assasination of JFK. It was not his biggest priority at the time. He decided America should help when ships went down in neutral territory. He reversed Kennedy's disengagement policy from Vietnam in withdrawing 1,000 troops by the end of 1963. -
First Man on the Moon
It was the first manned mission to land on the moon. It was the day when Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon. The President decided rather quickly that he wanted men on the moon. The main reason he wanted to get to they moon first is to upset the Soviet Union during the Cold War. -
Iraq War
Iraq WarPresident Bush threw the country into much not needed war. He was misinformed by CIA agents and thought he was doing the right thing. He spent billions on fighting a war unneededly. He should have looked into the information more than he did and the country is still paying for it.
