In 1497 a portuguese explorer named Vasco da Gama landed on the Natal Coast of South Africa. There were two expedtions from 1497 until 1502.

Discovery of Gold

In the mid 1800's Gold was discovered in South Africa. The gold caused many immigrants to migrate to South Africa.

Discovery of Diamonds

During 1867 South Africa diamonds were discovered. The diamonds were found in Central Africa at North Cape.
