This was where I went for Pre-K and Kindergarden. My family lived in Guadalajara, I learned to read and write in spanish. -
Nelson Elementary
After going to countless elementary schools, my family settled in pinedale and I went to Nelson Elementary where I began to learn English. I had to do a seperate class with a special teacher that was sort of like a translator for me. I did not like reading at all! -
Mrs. Fletcher
Mrs. Fletcher was my Language arts teacher in the 7th grade. She introduced me to Sandra Cisneros and Gary Soto, this is when i began to love reading. Mrs. Fletcher also encouraged me to write what I wanted to say even if I didn't spell evrything right, I loved her class. -
Abraham Lincon Middle School
My parents moved to Selma. When I started school there I was tested in language competency ( for the first time in a couple years) and no longer placed in English Learners classes. -
Passed the test
I passed the High School Exit exam on my first try. I was suprised and proud of myself. -
Fresno City college
I started Junior College as a science major with the goal of becoming a nurse. -
Switch
After tutoring young english learners who like me struggled to learn the language, I decided to switch majors. I wanted to teach English instead of being a nurse. -
Fresno State
I had my first semester at Fresno State in the fall of 2013. It was a challenge but I really enjoyed it. -
UCMLA
My absttract was accepted! On this day I presented my paper at the undergraduate conference. I was nervous but it was a great experience. -
