Muhammad's birth
The Prophet (SAW) was born in the Year of Elephant (Amm Al Feel), the year in which Abraha attacked Makkah. He was born in the tribe of Quraysh, the most respected tribe in Arabia as they were the keepers of Ka’bah. He was born in She’eb Banu Hashim Makkah with the lineage Hashmi. -

Mother's Death
When Muhammad was five or six, his mother took him to Yathrib to visit relatives but on the journey back, Amina fell ill and died. Then, Halima returned Muhammad back to Mekka and placed him under the care of his paternal grandfather, Abdul Al-Muttalib. -

First Revelation
Muhammad became very disturbed by the idoltary in Mekkah so he began making visits to a mountain cave outside town. On one occasion, angel Jibril came to him with revelation. The first words were "Read", "Read in the name of your Lord, the Creator. He, Who created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Bounteous."
He was frightened and ran to his Khadijah, who comforted him and took him to her cousin, Waraqa bin Nawful. -

Rejection of Message
The tribe of Quraysh began to openly ridicule Islam, and abuse the believers.They did not accept the truth, rather mocked the Prophet, called him various names and fabricated the message.
They had trouble understanding ressurection, the mortality of the Prophet (SAW) and the clear concept of the oneness of God. -

Public Preaching Begins
Muhammad was commanded to go public and warn the people for commiting idolary. He gathered all the people on top of Mount Safa. He told the people to save themselves from the punishment of Hell. He also named each tribe to tell them to fear Hell and worship Allah alone. -

Migration to Abyssinia
The first batch of Muslims migrated to Abyssinia in the month of Rajab, five years after the Prophethood. Twelve men and four women made the journey across the red sea. Uthman bin Affan was the leader of the group with his wife Ruqayyah, one of the Prophet’s daughters. -

Embracing Islam
Hamzah bin Abdul Mutallib and Umar bin Al-Khattab accepted Islam and strengthened the religion. Muslims could now practice Islam openly. -

Isra and Mi'raj
In the night journey (Isra): Allah took Muhammad from the Kabbah in Makkah to Bait Al Maqdis in Jerusalem. He led the prayers with the previous prophets. He was offered wine and milk, but he chose milk.
During the ascension: He was taken to 1st level of heavens and that is where prayer was established from 50, to 10, then lastly 5 times a day for all believers. -
Grandfather's Death
Shortly after, Muhammad's loving grandfather passed away and he was placed under the care of his paternal uncle, Abu Talib. -
Shepherd
In Muhammad's teens (580-594), he became a shepherd to earn money. He occasionaly traveled with Abu Talib, to accompany him to trade centers. -
Marriage to Khadijah
In Muhammad's early twenties, he entered the service of a widow named Khadija bint Khawalayd. He carried her goods to the north and returned with a profit. Later, Khadija was impressed by him and proposed marriage when he was 25 and she was nearly 40. -
Family Life
In Khadijah and Muhammad's next years (595-609):
They had two sons named Al-Qasim and Abdullah who both died in infancy, and four daughters named Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthum and Fatimah. -
Muslim Boycott
The disbelievers boycotted the Muslims. Marriage and trade with the believers was prohibited for them. -
Year of Sorrow
The two biggest supporters Muhammad (SAW) had, Abu Talib and Khadijah passed away and this year was titled "Year of sorrow" -
Boycott Ends
A few years later, a few Makkans wanted to end the boycott because they thought it was inhumane.
Allah revealed to Muhammad that this treaty has been eaten up by termites, except the name of Allah remains on the top.
Abu Talib also said that if Muhammad is right then Quraysh should end the boycott. If Muhammad is wrong then he won't protect him.
The Prophet's words were true and as a result, the boycott came to an end. -
Journey to Ta'if
The Prophet (SAW) went to Taif and preached the message but the people verbally and physically abused him.
