Christianity Introduced
In 600, Christianity was introduced by a missionary from Rome, St. Augstine. Also Irish missionary spread a Celtic version of the religion to the mainland of Britain. -

The Black Stone
The Black Stone is an Islamic relic. In 605, the Black Stone was moved because of renovation to the Kaaba. Clan leaders couldn't agree upon who should have the honor of putting the ston back in its proper place. Muhammad came up with a solution to put the stone on a cloth and have the four clan leaders all take a corner. That way they all had an equal share in the glory of replacing the stone. Muhammad had the honor of placing the stone in its proper place in the Kaaba. -

Gabriel's First Apperance
Muhammad made his usualy visit to Mount Hira where he meditated and the angel Gabriel appeared to him. From this time forward Gabriel would contiue to reveal God's word to Muhammad in order for him to go and tell other people. -

East Roman Empire Overthrown
Helraclius overthrows the East Roman Emperor, Phocas, at Constantinople. His first major act is changing the official language, Latin, to Greek. The empire from this point on was know as the Byzantine Empire. -

The Slavs overun the Greeks
When Rome fell, the Slavs were getting pressure from the Huns so they decided to relocate. Since this was a life-or-death situation they made their way south, conquering as they went. -

Departure from Mecca
In the year 622, Muhammad and this followers left his birthcity of Mecca. This marked year one on the Islamic calendar because this was a test of true faith for his followers. They were leaving their birthplace and their families. They left to escape the oppostion of the opposing clans. -

The Siege Of Medina
In 627, the Mecccans decided to try and end the uprising of Islam. The Quraysh military leader Abu Sufyan had a force of 10,000 men while Muhammad only had a force of 3,000. Muhammad was able to turn the tide and ended up attacking his oppressors. The men of Abu Sufyan, who were still alive, all converted to Islam. -

Conquest of Mecca
In 630, Muhammad decided to march on Mecca. Muhammad had a force of more than 10,000, after the Siege of Medina other religious groups decided to join him. Muhammad took control of Meccca and destroyed the false gods. Most people converted to Islam. -

Muhammad's Death
On June 8th, 632 Muhammad departed this world. He asked to be buried in a grave without any markers because he was afraid that people would come and worship his grave. -

Islam after Muhammad's Death
After Muhammad's death the Islamic society was fighting over who should take over his place as leader. Abu Bakr was choosen, his first task was to expand the empire. This, after many wars, lead to the Golden Age of Islam, which started in 750 and lasted until 1258. -

Byzantine Empire
In the Byzantine Empire the Emperor Heraclius died. His two sons, Constantine the 3rd and Heracleonas, secceed him. Constantine dies a few months later, people suspect that he was poisoned by his brother. Ironically, Constantine's son becomes the next emperor. -

Arabs Conquer Egypt
In 642, forces under the command of Amir ibn al-As attacked and conquered Egypt. Under the terms arranged by the Patriach of Alexandria, Egypt surrendered. People would be able to keep their religion as long as they made payments of a tribute. -

Islamic Slave Trade
In the time period of 650 to 1600, the Islamic slave trade was said to of had an estimated number of 7.25 million slaves. There were atleast 5,000 slaves per year being sold. The slaves were all from Africa because Islamic law pervented the taking of Islamic slaves. -

Islam in China
In 650, The thrid Caliph of Islam, Uthman ibn Affan, sent a delegation to China in hopes that they would embrace the Islamic religion. The Chinese Emperor, Yung-Wei, built a mosque to show his admiration. The mosque is know as the "memorial mosque" and is still standing to this very day. -
The Plague of Emmaus--- in ALL seriousness
In 639, the Plague of Emmaus breaks out in the town of Emmaus in Palestine. The plague was a possbile form of the bubonic plague. The epidemic is a famous one because it lead to the death of an estimated 25,000 people and also the deaths of several friends of Muhammad. -
Death of Loved Ones
In 619, Muhammad's uncle and wife both died. Muhammad's uncle was his only source of protection from the other clans who seeked to destroy him. His wife, Khadijah, was his first love and the year became know has the "year of sorrow".
