Parents Divorced
My parents divorced in 1998 when I was seven years old. I was in the "Industry vs. Inferiority" stage of development. The system affected by this event was my family system. Our home life was significantly changed. The change was also amplified by the fact that once my parents divorced, my father became absent from our lives for the next several years. I believe this influenced my life trajectory because I felt resentful towards my father and it became difficult for me to trust people -
Grandfather Passed Away
My grandfather died when I was 14 years old. This was difficult for my family because we were so close with him and he was a positive role model in our lives. I was in the "Identity vs. Confusion" stage of development. This affected my family system and it influenced my life trajectory because he was a positive male role model for me and my sister and he was always a strong support system for us. -
Moved out of State
After graduating high school, I moved to Kansas. This was a big transition for me because I left behind everything I knew. I was in the "Identity vs. Confusion" stage of life. This affected my family system as well as my social system. It influenced the trajectory of my life because being away from my family and friends made me mature quickly and become independent. I ultimately ended up moving back home. However, I believe it was a beneficial experience and I learned a lot in that time. -
Birth of Daughter
I gave birth to my daughter in 2018. I was 27 years old, which means I was in the "Intimacy vs. Isolation" stage of development. This impacted the trajectory of my life in so many ways. I became more determined to get through school, I learned to love and care for someone more than I ever thought possible, and it made me have a closer bond with my family.
