Becoming a member

Aug 21, 1473

After Leonardo registered on tax declaration of his father.He became a member of the Arte of painters in the city of Florence,along with Perugino and Botticelli.Then his first known drawing:the landscape painted on the Feast of Santa Maria delle Neve,at about this date.

Receiving

Feb 19, 1478

Leonardo first receives his first personal commission to be recorded in an official document.His work never did materialize. After he writes "I have begun the two Virgin Mary's. "

Going away

Mar 5, 1482

Leonardo goes to live in Milan.There he studies anatomy (Libro Titolato de Figura umana) and architecture.Then visits Pavia with Francesco di Giorgio Martini.

The Last Supper

Oct 5, 1495

At this time,Leonardo begins The Last Supper.Painted in Santa Maria delle Grazie.The painting represents the scene of The Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples.It is one of the worlds most famous paintings and most studied.

Flying

Oct 5, 1498

Possible first attempt at a flying machine.Leonardo then leaves Milan.Then later he studies the flight of birds.Second unsuccessful attempt to fly. One of the most famous invention he made was the flying machine.

Engineering

Jun 13, 1502

Cesare Borgia appoints Leonardo military engineering to his armies.He is also appointed painter and engineer to Louis XII.Leonardo practices military,hydraulics,civil,mechanical and architectural engineering

The Mona Lisa

May 20, 1503

Leonardo began painting the Mona Lisa in Florence Italy.The women in the portrait was Lisa Gherandini.It is one of the most famous and celebrated work.It now hangs in the Louver,in Paris.

Deciding where to live

Dec 24, 1508

Leonardo divides his time between Milan and the city of Florence.Then later on he moves to Rome where he lived in the Belvedere.There he worked on mirrors and possibly the Turin self portrait.

Anatomy

Feb 22, 1509

At this time,Leonardo purses his studies of anatomy with Marcanotonio della Torre.His early anatomical studies dealt chiefly on skeletons and muscles.His earlier dissections and drawings were of animals.He later acquired his first human skull in 1489.

Last years

May 2, 1519

Leonardo worked in Rome, Bologna and Venice.He spent his last years in France at a home awarded by Francis I. Leonardo at the age of 67 he died on May 2,1519.He was buried in the church of Saint-Florentin.The church was later ruined during the French Revolution.
