Currently, I believe that at Springs we are ready for more. We have the one-to-one devices, and already have personalized learning plans that we put together with parents. Learners taking more control of their learning seems to be the obvious next step. I believe that we are ready to allow for students to have a greater part in planning their education (how they present information, where they gather information from, etc). Let's get started!
-
Introduce the idea of students creating their own learning experience. [https://youtu.be/A5NKHY-bF9k] Introduce using various tools such as voki, voicethread, etc. to showcase their learning. Tell them that we are starting a pilot with these tools, and that the program will go through evaluations and changes this semester with a presentation in May.
-
Have students discuss in groups the different ideas they have about creating their learning experiences.
-
Create a document that has links to different resources.
-
Have students explore different resources.
-
During PLP's introduce students to the idea of creating their own learning experience and give them resources to get them started.
-
Have students get into groups to discuss what was working well, what changes need to be made. (Send home parent survey)
-
Evaluate student discussions and parents surveys. Make changes where necessary.
-
Meet to discuss pros/cons of the program.
-
Make necessary changes to the program. Look at all aspects
-
Collect work samples from students to showcase to staff.
-
Showcase student work at staff meeting. Discuss.
