    Starting at BJHS
My first year at Bloomington Junior High School, I had my classroom computer and a Smart Board. Many activities that featured technology were used through the Smart Board, for example, BrainPop, Reading A to Z, or videos. We did have access to the computer lab for online interventions or to request for a specific activity. It was challenging to incorporate independent use of technology into my classroom.

    Class Dojo
Being in a self contained special education classroom, I was expected to collect data on behavior. In the beginning of year, we were expected to use a paper tracking system, with carts and notes. I was to enter that data weekly into a log onto the computer. This was extremely time consuming, so my teaching partner and I began to use ClassDojo. We were able to enter data onto the app. Thank goodness we had iPads! That data created graphs and organized information on each student.
  • Computer Cart

We got a computer cart! Students were able to check out a computer to complete assignments and activities. This allowed for more variety in my teaching. Students were able to interact personally with different programs such as Prodigy for math and Learning Ally for reading.
  • 1:1

Our district went full 1:1! Students received individual laptops to use in their learning across subjects. This year kicked off our online math curriculum, Digits. Students completed all homework 100% online.
  • The 1:1 Journey

As 1:1 continued, I began to learn and utilize online programs within my curriculum. Different programs that I have used, especially with my students with disabilities are EdPuzzle, BrainPop, MobyMax, and Learning Ally.
  • This School Year

I have continued to incorporate online curriculum within my instruction. The newest tool that I have brought into my classroom is Zoom. Each week my homeroom video chats with someone outside of our classroom. We have chatted with my parents, siblings, friends, and people from the community. I love this tool and being able to introduce my students to new people and see new places! My parents travel a lot and we have seen Greece and Venice this year!
