    The Roman Coliseum built
    The building was a part of a program begun by Emperor Vespasian in order to restore Rome to its "former glory", like how it was before the civil war at the time. Some of the events that were held here were gladiatorial events. Although it may not be the most well-preserved monuments in Italy, it is known to be Italy’s national landmark.

    The leaning tower of pisa was apart of many historical events after it was built. One of which was when Galileo Galilei dropped two cannonballs of different masses off of it to demonstrate that the speed they fall is independent from their mass. Also in the second World War, the Germans used this tower as a vantage point.

    He is thought by many to be the first european to reach the americas. Even if he was not, his voyages led to wide european awareness of the continent. He also encouraged future European exploration. He lived from 1451 - 1506.

  • A Unification of Italy

    A revolt in Piedmont, that takes place during an attempt to remove the Austrians from Italy, unifies the Italian territories under the rule of the House of Savoy. This briefly made Piedmont the capital of Italy. Piedmont is a north western region in italy.
  • Rita Levi-Montalcini birth

    Rita Levi-Montalcini birth
    Rita Levi-Montalcini was a neurologist and one of Italy’s leading scientists. With biochemist Stanley Cohen, they received the 1986 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discovery of nerve growth factor (NGF). Their discovery is important for understanding cell growth and some diseases.
